Why is remote start range important to me? Remote start range is important because this is how far away you will be able to remote start your vehicle. If you only park outside your home or work, and can always see your vehicle, a basic 1200' range system should be fine. If you sometimes park further away or can't always see your vehicle upon remote start, you may want to think about one of our 2-way systems that will give you up to 1 mile of range. Keep in mind, we also offer the DEI Smart Start where you have virtually unlimited range through your smart phone.
What is a Transponder Key? In the mid 90's vehicle manufactures started installed small RF transmitters (transponders) in their ignition keys. This was done to prevent auto theft because if the transponder in the key doesn't match the one in the vehicle, the car will not start. Originally this was an issue for remote start installers because we needed to duplicate the RF signal for the remote start to work properly. Thankfully those days are gone. Today we use a small module, or often called a bypass to integrate the remote start to the vehicle. Most cars today require a module to work properly and Autosport Plus carries the largest selection in the area.
Will the installation of a remote car start void my warranty? When installed properly, a remote car start will not void your vehicle's warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prevents a manufacturer from voiding a warranty because you chose to install an aftermarket product. Dealerships are aware of this and if they try and void your warranty, please refer them to this Act.
